- To run a scan using Microsoft Defender Antivirus:
- Open your Windows Security settings.
- Select Virus & threat protection > Scan options.
- Choose Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan) and click Scan now.
- The scan will automatically detect and remove or quarantine malware.
Third-Party Antivirus Tools:
- Consider using reputable third-party antivirus software such as Malwarebytes. It offers free antivirus scans and removal for Windows, Mac, Android, and Chromebook devices.
- To use Malwarebytes:
- Download and install the Malwarebytes free virus scanner software.
- Click the “Scan” button to quickly scan your device for malicious software and viruses.
Safe Mode and Manual Removal:
- Boot your computer into Safe Mode to prevent any malicious processes from running.
- Manually search for suspicious files, folders, and registry entries related to the virus. Be cautious and only delete files you’re sure are malicious.
- Remember to back up important data before making any changes.
Reinstall Operating System (if necessary):
- If the virus persists or cannot be removed, consider reinstalling your computer’s operating system.
