Virus Removal

1. Use Built-in Antivirus Software:

   • Windows Defender (now known as Microsoft Defender Antivirus) is a powerful tool that comes pre-installed on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
   • To run a scan using Microsoft Defender Antivirus:
     1. Open your Windows Security settings.
     2. Select Virus & threat protection > Scan options.
     3. Choose Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan) and click Scan now.
     4. The scan will automatically detect and remove or quarantine malware.

2. Third-Party Antivirus Tools:

   • Consider using reputable third-party antivirus software such as Malwarebytes. It offers free antivirus scans and removal for Windows, Mac, Android, and Chromebook devices.
   • To use Malwarebytes:
     1. Download and install the Malwarebytes free virus scanner software.
     2. Click the “Scan” button to quickly scan your device for malicious software and viruses.

3. Safe Mode and Manual Removal:

   • Boot your computer into Safe Mode to prevent any malicious processes from running.
   • Manually search for suspicious files, folders, and registry entries related to the virus. Be cautious and only delete files you’re sure are malicious.
   • Remember to back up important data before making any changes.

4. Reinstall Operating System (if necessary):

   • If the virus persists or cannot be removed, consider reinstalling your computer’s operating system.
   • Back up your essential files, create a bootable USB drive with the OS installation, and follow the installation process.
